Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church

The original church was recorded on November 18, 1851, as “The Wesleyan Church of Meeting House.” At the close of the Civil War, families were possibly as moved as was Abraham Lincoln, when he confessed to Peter Cartwright, “As I stood on the battlefield at Gettysburg, I learned to know Him as my savior.”

This love of the Lord led to building of the present structure which began in August and was was dedicated on January 17, 1870. The bricks were made on a local farm and the water was hauled from a nearby stream by a twelve year old boy. Workers were boarded by the same family that furnished the building site.

At this time the church was part of the Mount Pleasant Circuit. Additional classrooms were added in 1957 and in April 1959 the church was incorporated in to the Jacobs Creek Charge. Over 50 ministers have served Wesley Chapel.
